Code of Conduct

Wiretap is a Chrome extension that lets fans comment and share insights while watching Netflix shows. We hope you’ll find the comments insightful, informative, and even funny.
Some comments may offer a different perspective than yours. And if you find something offensive, we ask that you mark it in order to help us moderate the comment stream. On the flip side, we ask that you upvote great comments to help everyone see the best content.
The code

First thing to know is that we’ll do everything we can to keep Wiretap a respectful community, which actively engages fans in lively discussion about great Netflix shows. Wiretap should be a safe space for individuals, groups, and their ideas.

And here’s the nitty gritty….

Treat others how you’d like to be treated. Your parents probably told you this and we heartily agree with them. Play nice, even if you disagree with someone.

While commenting, please be respectful of others and value their contribution. That way, everyone gets to enjoy commenting with Wiretap.

Also, for now, we’re English only.

Unwanted comments

We want to see a wide range of comments about characters, plot, style, setting, and...well, you get the idea.

But we thought it’d help to outline the type of comments that we don’t want to see. If you add the following type of comments, we’ll do something about them.

Wiretap prohibits any comments that:

  • Use profanity to demean or provoke other users.
  • Use hate speech or discriminate.
  • Are pornographic.
  • Are sexually suggestive, especially if they target minors.
  • Threaten, harass, and/or bully.
  • Refer to violence.
  • Share someone’s confidential info.
  • Use a fake identity.
  • Solicit or try to facilitate a transaction.
  • Are spam.
Unwanted behavior

Along with not adding any prohibited comments, we also ask that you do not:

  • Hinder the regular use of Wiretap.
  • Ask to get upvotes.
  • Use more than one account to ignore this Conduct Policy or avoid punishment.
  • Make personal attacks on other commenters.
  • Write in ALL CAPS.
  • Use symbols and emoji characters. They won’t render.
  • Make comments that lack content. Phrases such as “this”, “lol”, and “I came here to say this” add nothing to the discussion.
  • Post garbage text. “(&^&^$)&#*)” contributes nothing, except some annoying visual noise.
What we’ll do about unwanted comments and behavior

We’re serious about enforcing this Policy so we can keep Wiretap fun and safe to use.

If you engage in unwanted behavior or post unwanted comments, here’s what we’ll do:

  • Remove your comment(s) and ask you to not do it again.
  • If there’s a next time, we’ll give you a more formal warning along with taking your comment(s) down.
  • Depending on the severity of your comments or behaviour, we can, at any time, ban you from using Wiretap.
Wanted behaviour
(a.k.a. your role as a moderator)

Enough about what you can’t do. We’d love you to help moderate the comments on Wiretap and keep it a happy and happening community. Our aim is continued enjoyment for everyone, including you.

We’d love you to do the following things:

  • If you see an offensive comment, mark it using the icon.
  • Downvote comments that you feel aren’t contributing to the comment stream’s overall goodness.
  • A spoiler may slip in, so be sure to tag it as one by using the icon.
  • Upvote comments that you like so that everyone sees them.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling.
  • Moderate based on quality, not opinion.
  • Report any behavior or comments that don’t follow the guidelines of this Policy.
